MAN-GO MENTAL HEALTH
A PUBLIC AWARENESS AND SOCIAL IMPACT CAMPAIGN
CONTEXT
We all need some healing MANGO MAGIC. Especially de men dem.
Mental health, particularly among young men, is rapidly declining worldwide. In the UK, men account for almost 80% of all suicides, which is the leading cause of death among men under 35. Men the world over are less likely to seek help or even speak about their emotional and mental states, largely because of gender stereotypes that have, for generations, led them to internalise and suppress their emotions instead of exposing and processing them. Jamaica's rampant gun and domestic violence can easily be traced back to unprocessed trauma and mental health issues among men.

OUR MISSION
-
Catalyse individual and collective healing through the power of storytelling
-
Educate, inspire and empower men, women and youth to prioritise mental health and emotional wellbeing
-
Normalise male vulnerability and break the cycles of silence, shame, and suffering that in turn feed cycles of violence, suicide and substance abuse
OUR VISION
We envision a world where everyone, and especially men, feels empowered to prioritise their mental and emotional wellbeing. We aim to break down social stigmas and gender stereotypes, promote emotional awareness, intelligence and vulnerability, and build a global community that values, supports and celebrates mental health and human emotions as fundamental to our health and wellbeing. We are also dedicated to the reforestation and regeneration of Mother Nature.
OUR PLAN
Stinky Mango is a metaphor for what happens when we don’t face difficult emotions and instead, let them rot inside. The short film we are producing deals with one man’s internalised struggle with loss, grief, and regret.
Through the power of both community and cinema, we will reflect on the human condition, learn, educate, reason and share resources about mental health and emotional wellbeing, as well as promote mindfulness and self-care practices among men.
Our robust, 12 to 18-month-long public awareness and social impact campaign will build community on and offline through a series of online and experiential activations, gamified community-engagement tools, film screenings, reasonings, a companion guide and more.
